2016 Book to Movie Adaptations

It seems like there are dozens of movies coming out in 2016 that are based on books! I always enjoy finding out there’s a book involved (which seems to be the case more and more often these days), since it gives me the chance to read it beforehand and compare. I picked out a few that I’m most eager to see and listed them below!

The 5th Wave by  Rick Yancey – We’ve seen previews for this a few times now and the story seems intriguing. Aliens are attacking our planet in waves of destruction and a teenager is trying to save her brother before the fifth wave comes. Movie Release Date: In Theaters Now (January 22, 2016)

Ugh, this cover is the worst

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith & Jane Austen – Ok, this one isn’t at the top of my list, but Jay is dying to see it (see what I did there??) because, well, zombies. I’m reluctant because I don’t want to see my precious Pride and Prejudice ruined. If we go, which we probably will to be honest, I’m not going to bother with reading the book first. Movie Release Date: February 5, 2015

How to be Single by Liz Tuccillo. – I think the trailer for this movie is hilarious. The story is about four single women in New York City and the movie stars Rebel Wilson, so I’m hoping its a Bridesmaids meets Sex in the City type comedy. Movie Release Date: February 12, 2016

Isn’t it gorgeous!?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander – I just found out that you can actually buy this book! Although it’s understandably sold out on Amazon because us Harry Potter fans are fanatics. 🙂  Centering around one of Harry Potter’s textbooks, this movie is based on the life of the author Newt Scamander. Movie Release Date: November 18, 2016

Can’t wait to reread this before the movie comes out!

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline – This is a bonus since it isn’t supposed to be released until 2017, but that’ll give you plenty of time to read the book first! I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed the book, so I was thrilled when I found out it’ll be turned into a movie. Movie Release Date: TBD 2017

Have you read any of these books yet? Are there other book to movie adaptations that you’re looking forward to seeing?

  1. Haha, oh gosh I don’t know about Pride & Prejudice either. i may just ignore it exists, just like I did with the book, but I may find I’m not really able to hide from it… Like trying to hide from zombies really.
